The hotel sits on the banks of one of the world’s greatest salmon rivers, the River Dee. With its enviable location you can fish right in front of the hotel where the famous Dee and its tributary The Feugh meet.

The Beat is simply called The Banchory Fishing Beat and although we don’t own it, fishing can be arranged in front of the hotel with We have a rod box at the hotel for storage overnight.

People come from all over the world to fish in the River Dee. The river rises in the Cairngorm Mountains and flows for over 80 miles until it enters the North Sea at the historic Aberdeen harbour. It is hailed as the finest fly fishing in Europe due to fast flowing, crystal clear waters as well as a succession of salmon pools.

Grouse shooting and deer stalking is a huge hit in Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms where there is a wealth of sporting estates and woodland.

We recommend Glendye Estate, as the Glendye side of the hill is one of the largest scale shoots in Scotland. They offer high quality driven or walked-shooting that can be tailored to the requirements of a party. Many of the drives are on high slopes with spectacular views across the east coast of Scotland. The estate supports pheasant, grouse, partridge, duck and ptarmigan as well as roe deer stalking which is offered in season.
